How to Get There

You can reach May Lake in Yosemite by starting at the Snow Flat Trailhead off of Tioga Road.  The trail to this scenic attraction isn’t long- only about 1.2 miles- but does gain some elevation.  Overall, this is a fairly easy and enjoyable course for hikers of all ages and skill levels.

Parking is available at the trailhead along with pit toilets.  You’ll also find flush toilets available at May Lake in Yosemite.  Make sure the Tioga Road Pass is open before you visit.  This road is usually open June through October and you can check the conditions online for further updates.  

Things to Do at May Lake in Yosemite

Visiting this picturesque lake is one of the best things to do in Yosemite!  May Lake in Yosemite National Park offers some of the best views of the entire area.  In addition to the bright blue lake, you’ll also be able to admire stunning sights of Tenaya Lake and Cloud’s Rest.  Don’t forget to bring along your camera; these views are absolutely one-of-a-kind.  Swimming and fishing in May Lake in Yosemite is permitted (as long as you follow the park’s fishing regulations).
