Our adventure to find the winery was like a Stephen King movie, the Shining...But in a good way! We drove to the end of Willow Creek Road a narrow one lane dirt road, and were met by a goat and remnants of a winery. How very odd considering we spoke on the phone several times....Turns out Dave has moved his tasting room into Jackson at Villa Buscaglia, a perfect location for wine tasting. So, don't follow Dave's map on the website to find him—he will more likely be holding court in Jackson, CA. Meeting Dave was a pleasure and he pulled out a bit of everything for us to try. Leaning far more to the whites than the reds I thought I would be disappointed as Dave only has red in his repertoire, but I was pleasantly surprised at how drinkable his reds were. Victor particularly enjoyed a wine that is 100% Cab Franc, a very hearty wine, and we have committed to pouring this wine in our first month of the wine tasting room. After nearly an hour of getting to know each other, we made a commitment to share in a wine dinner together. Dave was such a fun person and very passionate about his wines. I think our Groveland audience and Yosemite travelers alike will love his hand crafted wines. April 26th was set as the date and a new marketing campaign begun. Willow Creek Winery Menu:
Our Willow Creek winemaker's dinner will be a big event and as we get closer to the date we will have Dave and Nicole work together to set up the best pairings for his collection of wines and our menu. Guests will enjoy not only Dave's company, but 5 of his wines and 5 courses. Delicious! Priced at $65 per person. Besides the dinner on Sunday, Dave will also host a wine reception that afternoon, Sunday, April 26th from 3:30 to 4:30. This will be a few of his wines and some Light Bites from our kitchen, $12, tax included. Consider a one night package deal of $299 per couple or (al a carte pricing). This includes:
All taxes and tips included for two people, in parentheses are the al a carte prices should you wish to join us only one or two of the options instead of the whole program. Guests will be able to add a Monday night bed and breakfast for $99. If adding Saturday night, that will price at our regular rate, $123. Rooms are going to be available on a first come first served basis. Folks who like a bigger room with more amenities can upgrade for $35 a night, those traveling in a group might prefer a vacation rental house. We have lots of options should we run out of rooms at the Hotel Charlotte.
