The Telegraph Fire burned on both sides of the Merced River to the East of Highway 49 and to the North of Highway 140. The fire reached just over 34,000 acres since starting on Friday afternoon, 7/25. Officials are reporting a 90% containment at this time. Highway 140 reopened on Wednesday.

Here is a website for keeping track of the Telegraph Fire. It appears to be maintained by retired firefighter folks, based on their monitoring of communications between firefighters and command centers. This website is NOT published by any official agency but has some useful images and links.

Coulterville, while a small town, has the surrounding area also called Coulterville and is geographically a very large area. When you hear that Coulterville has been evacuated, at this time it is just a small part of the big area defined as Coulterville, but not the town of Coulterville.
