Cabaret Charlotte with
Dennis Brown & Friends

Connie captures their hearts

We've discovered a formula that works beautifully in our intimate dining room setting. We meet friends, neighbors and travelers over a cocktail or glass of wine, enjoy a special treat from Victor then sit for the first musical set. This is followed by an appetizer, another set of songs, soup or salad, singing, dinner, singing again, dessert and coffee and then the closing set.

A little background on our Cabaret Charlotte dinner theater productions is in order. Going back a few years I started talking to Dennis Brown, director for the Pine Cone Singers, about doing a dinner show here at the Charlotte. It took a great deal of encouragement and visioning to get him to sign on for JUST ONE show. We selected a cast of performers from the Pine Cone Singers and ran the show as a fundraiser for the group. Each of the cast was able to pick their two favorite songs and we had a number of unique ensemble medleys that opened/closed each set. The program was a hit and sold out so quickly that we added a second show and then a third before we even played the second show. That series of three performances raised $3,000 for the Pine Cone Singers.

Scheduling another set of shows was a far easier sell for the spring of 2007 and we continued the event as a fund raiser for the Pine Cone Singers and raised another $1500. We change the spring show formula to an all Broadway review, spanning the decades from 1913 to recent favorites.

Now calling themselves Sierra Sounds,  the group has turned professional which is grand! Allowing us to recognize their dedication of time, energy and talents. We are into our third original show and 8th performance with two more performances scheduled for Sundays, March 2ns & 9th, 2008.

Our Winter/Spring series of dinner-theater events is aptly called Wine, Murder & Music and offers up some super evenings starting with a winemaker's dinner, Cartlidge & Brown from Napa, on February 17th followed by two more of this Cabaret Charlotte: MORE Broadway on Sundays, March 2nd & 9th. We have a Murder Mystery scheduled for April 6th and celebrate the World Premier with a Gala Event for the opening night of the musical melodrama: Love Potion #1 on Friday, May 23. Brunch-theater tickets will be available on May 25th for the Sunday final melodrama performance.
